City Council approves new Fire Dept. equipment, Bond re-fi

During its regular Aug. 15, 2017 meeting, the Forney City Council met and in summary:

  • Approved plats and plans for Windmill Farms, Lake Pointe Church, Murphy Oil.
  • After public hearings, approved plat for Lake Pointe Church, Park Trails PD, allowing a larger building in Forney Marketplace.
  • Council gives input during a lengthy presentation about the Thoroughfare plan, which proposes grade separations at 3 RR crossings; having Bois d'arc downtown be one-way, using either Elm or Center for the other side; having Church or College connect to Scyene and or Pinson (which would add a RR crossing); using a not-currently-existing CR 225? to extend 460/Clements South; adding roads to FHS, in all 4 directions.
  • Approved sale of refunding bonds
  • Approved $2.1 million in Tax Notes for Fire Dept equipment.
  • Approved delaying occupancy date of Eno's Pizza
  • Held an 88-minute executive session then:
  • Approved (with Johnson & Wilson against) Gateway development Amenity Center agreement. Mr. Alan Baine spoke, said they got turned down for the 2600 sq ft plan, still doesn't think need to build anything near this big, put 3300 in the agreement, plan came in at 3800, they always plan to go above and beyond what are required to do, it is their desire to let the homeowners decide if it needs to be expanded. He said the building is a very, very small part of the area. Mayor Wilson expressed concern the developer would be in charge of the HOA when the decision would be made.
  • Denied Fox Hollow Development agreement.
  • Approved directing City Manager and Attorney to prepare and finalize an economic development agreement with Forney Marketplace LLC for consideration by city council on Sep. 5th.
  • Approved (abstention by Ms. Penn) accepting high bid to sell property at 609 Park Creek.
