City moves to settle lawsuit with Pate Transportation and Forney Roadbuilders

During the regular March 19 2013 meeting the City Council:

• Made a surprise presentation to James Pruitt for his work with the road projects, and for his service in the Naval Reserves (and is shipping out for 7 months soon).
• Proclaimed March for Meals Month
  
• Were presented gifts from the Forney Arts Council by chairman Robert Dobbs, who expressed the Arts Council appreciation for the City Councils' efforts.
  
• Approved a final plat and a site plan for The Cedars at Gateway, the apartment development which will be east of FM 548 and south of Reeder Lane.
  
• Received a positive annual audit presentation from Conway.
  
• Tabled action for an FEDC $2 million bond sale, so the FEDC board may reconsider their priority list in light of the stalled negotiations with the FISD over the purchase of the downtown property.
  
• Approved moving $19,825 of FEDC funds set aside for downtown grease traps to the EDC general funds, to be used for incentives.
• Awarded a bid for Eastridge Drainage project to the low bidder L. F. Miller of Emory TX for $124,088 + $1,200 alternate.
  
• Heard from Lynda Gamble, who stated this was her third visit before the council, again on the subject of the school zone around elementary school, the people who speed in the school zone, and the driver she witnessed passing a school bus with its red lights on and the stop sign deployed, while children were exiting the bus.
• Reconvened after a 1 hour executive session, moving to "approve settlement proposal in the lawsuit with Pate Transportation Partners, LP, Forney Roadbuilders, LP, against the City of Forney Texas as presented in executive session, and authorize the Mayor to sign the forthcoming settlement documents."
