FEDC considers rent for tenants

During a special Mar. 23, 2020 meeting, the Forney Economic Development Corp. met to consider rent relief for tenants.

• Approved relief regarding EDC owned properties located at 106 E. Main St and 215 S. Bois d'Arc St.
      Mr. Ketteman said Mr. Spillers approached him about rent relief; Mr. Ketteman then visited w/ Ms. Latham. No one knows how long this will last, if could give them 3 months relief (they are all current on rent). Eno's has a loan agreement, he recommends 3 months of relief by extending the note. Ms. Lewis said excellent suggestion, right thing to do. Mr. Roberson asked what the renters said; Mr. Ketteman has not shown them this. Pres. McBeth asked if need council approval; City Atty Mr. Thatcher said this could be a simple letter agreement.
      Item was approved.
      Mr. Ketteman said this might serve to provide support for other landlords in the same situation.
